Why SchildW3rk exists
The Story
SchildW3rk is intentionally built against the hidden-backend trend.
The name
Schild means shield. The turtle idea comes from my son and his passion for turtles. W3rk points to the web and the technical craft behind it.
The frustration
Many modern stacks make the browser feel fast by moving more and more backend behavior into frontend abstractions. That can be productive, but it often hides HTTP, forms, cache, security and ownership.
The direction
SchildW3rk keeps the server responsible for truth and the browser responsible for interaction. Direct requests return full HTML. Warm navigation can use Page Payloads, but Payloads are transport, not RPC.
The long-term shape
Shell should also be useful as a frontend framework on its own. Shield adapts Shell into a server-first runtime today, while a future Shell-only SPA story can reuse the same component and view ideas.
